VeloCote becomes a top coat to any part of your bike you’ve applied it to. Once your application of VeloCote is complete, your bike will repel oil, dirt, mud, and road grime for a smoother, cleaner ride. Get ready for the ride of your life with VeloCote! Keep reading to learn how to apply VeloCote to your bike. Before getting started, you’ll need just a few things:

  • Degreaser or any standard dish soap
  • Denatured alcohol, isopropyl alcohol or your favorite bottle of vodka (that is, of course, if you do not have the others handy!)
  • Paper towel
  • Microfiber towels (2)
  • Rubber gloves

01
Wash

Wash your bike frame and components extremely well using degreaser or dish soap, removing all dirt, oil, and road grime from the areas where VeloCote will be applied. You should not move on to the next step until everything is thoroughly cleansed. Note: some components may be easier to clean and apply VeloCote to when detached from the bike (i.e. wheels, derailleurs, crankset).

02
Cleanse

Wipe down all areas of the frame and components where VeloCote will be applied with a clean microfiber or paper towels dampened with denatured / isopropyl / rubbing alcohol (vodka will also work in a pinch), rotating the towels and flipping them over to clean sides as you go.

This step is the final cleaning stage—it should not be used to clean your bike, but to finalize it for VeloCote application. Make sure to spend the proper amount of time during the Wash stage to thoroughly ensure your bike is clean.

The cleaner the areas where VeloCote will be applied, the more effective VeloCote will be.
03
Apply

This is a two-step process. Two separate wipes are provided which you will use to apply VeloCote to the frame and components. Follow the directions below or watch the video on how to do the application.

DIRECTIONS
VeloCote™ is a bicycle coating wipe that helps keep your cycle cleaner by providing a long lasting wicking and repellent shield against grime, dirt, oil, and water. The results? A faster, smoother ride, and effortless maintenance.

FRAME AND FORK

Do not open a VeloCote Wipe until you’re ready for application, as it will start to activate once exposed to air. When ready, open the first VeloCote Wipe with gloved hands. Discard packaging.

Leave VeloCote Wipe folded up as is, and with cross-hatching or circular motions, begin applying VeloCote to the very top of your head tube, then work your way back and down across the frame of the bike making sure not to miss any spots.

When the wipe surface starts to dry out, fold to expose new sides. Work with one section or frame tube at a time—only move to a new section when the last section is completed. Do the fork last.

To prevent the product from not leveling out or curing properly, avoid overlapping previous work that has been sitting for more that 30 seconds.

COMPONENTS

Before opening the second VeloCote Wipe, do a visual check to make sure you did not miss any spots on your frame. If you did, carefully fill in only the area you missed with a little corner of the wipe.

Start applying to the wheels, first ensuring you do not apply to any breaking surfaces. Afterwards, move on to the crankset and detailers—if you have fenders, start with them first. Apply on the dirtiest components last so as not to contaminate other areas. You will need to work somewhat quickly so the VeloCote Wipe does not dry out. Once all the desired parts of your bike have been applied on and no spots have been missed, you can properly dispose of the VeloCote Wipe.

Please read over all the tips before applying to make sure you get a much superior result.

VeloCote should dry with an even sheen that will be slightly richer and glossier than the original finish of the substraight you applied to.

If the sheen is not even and consistent after 1-2 minutes, use a clean microfiber cloth to smooth out the coating.

04
Rest

Allow VeloCote to dry fully before taking your bike out for a spin. Wait a minimum of 4 hours before exposing your bike to the elements.

05
Play

Get ready for the best ride of your life. There is nothing you need to worry about when riding or washing your bike anymore. Once VeloCote is cured, your bike will have a far superior surface to what you had before. When washing, just water or mild soap will work. It’s no longer necessary to wax or apply anything else. VeloCote will last years, but it also depends on how often you use and wash your bike. You can reapply VeloCote at any time following the same directions.
